Dang that Sun!

We took the boys out to dinner last night to redeem free kid's meals they had earned at school. We got a seat by the window, and the sun was setting. Every time Justin would look at me, the sun would be right in his eyes.

I told him, "Justin, be careful that you don't look right at the sun, it will hurt your eyes."

His reply: "I can't help it mom. I'm not looking at the sun, it's looking at me!"

I'm Getting A New Sister!!!

My brother Jon proposed to his girlfriend Molly on St. Patrick's Day. She said yes!!

We adore Molly and are so excited to have her in our family. He has waited a long time to find the right girl, and we are so glad he finally did. She is just perfect for him. Woohoo!

Pinewood Derby

Saturday was Tyler's very last pinewood derby. It is always a little bit stressful making the car, but luckily we have a great friend Dennis who knows all the tricks and helps all the boys with their cars.
Tyler's car didn't do quite as well as his car last year, but he still finished in the top third out of about 20 boys.

He decided to name his car "The Skunk" because it was black and white.

Here he is at the pit stop, adding just a little more graphite to the wheels.
He made so many stops here, that by the end of the race his car was silver and black instead of white! :)

The track this year was really tall, so the boys handed their cars to a leader, who placed it in position.
The handoff:

The lineup:
One thing that was fun this year is that each boy got a turn at counting down and pushing the button to start the race. Very cool!
Then to end the day off, the cub scout leaders made these cute twinkie cars for everyone to eat.
It was a very fun morning!!

Busy But Fun Week

It has been a great week. And I hope I am not jinxing myself by typing that. ;)

Last Thursday I got to go to the 4th grade hoe-down with Tyler. I have never been coordinated, so square dancing (or any dancing for that matter) has always been a challenge. But since I've already been twice with Brandon and Spencer, I actually managed to make it through the night without embarrassing myself too badly. I had a lot of fun, and Tyler is just plain fun to be with.

Saturday morning we tackled some cleaning projects and got much accomplished, then we went to Spencer's basketball game. Great day!

Sunday was actually a pretty relaxing day with not a lot going on. Love it when that happens. The three youngest boys pulled out the play-doh and actually entertained themselves without a single argument for over an hour. They pretended they were running a restaurant and had to make orders for customers. When they were all done, Spencer took pictures of their creations.

Don't worry. Even though it was fast Sunday and they were starving, no play-doh was actually consumed. At least not that I'm aware of. :)

Tuesday my mom and dad came down and spent the day with us. Mom and I did some crafting and it was awesome. We need to do it more often! That night we went to an awesome Relief Society dinner where we got to listen to two sisters of Marjorie Hinckley talk about their ancestors. They were cute, funny, uplifting, and totally entertaining. A great night!
I did feel a little guilty that we missed Spencer's choir concert that night. We tried going to a dress rehearsal earlier, but didn't get to hear his group sing. Wes did tape it for me though.

Yesterday I ran a bunch of errands and cleaned house. Much needed!

Today my cousin Tami came over for our weekly craft day. We made some adorable hair bows. So much fun to be able to hang out with my mom and cousin both in the same week. Woohoo!

And the weather has been beautiful. Today was sunny and perfect. I can't wait for spring!!

Another Night of Basketball

Brandon's city league team had a tournament game last night. They had a great season, and won most of their games. He got to play with a couple of his buddies, Ryan and Nathan, so that made it even more fun.
They played the #1 team from another town. They did really well the first half, but they only had five players, and by the second half it was apparent that they were all getting tired. At one point Brandon got a bloody nose, but couldn't stop playing because there was no one to sub in for him. Luckily it wasn't a bad one, that would not have been pretty!

They fought hard, but ended up losing. What a bummer!!

Family Night at the Basketball Court

Wes's city league team had a tournament game last night, so we all loaded up and headed over to watch him play. Only 5 of the players could make it, so no subs. Yikes! They started out slow and things were not looking good. At halftime they were down by 10.
Wes cut his finger, so I went out to the car to get a band-aid. It must have been a lucky band-aid, because after halftime they really started pulling things together. Eventually they tied up the score. Wes was fouled and got to shoot free throws.
The first one went in, and they were ahead for the first time!!
They played amazing against a really physical team that had a lot more height, and plenty of players to rotate in and out.

It was a tight game, but they ended up winning. I think the other team was kinda shocked. It was totally awesome!! I love watching Wes play!
