This is not a good pattern. Not good at all.

So, Halloween evening I went to bed with a sore throat. It turned out to be strep.

Thanksgiving evening, I went to bed with a sore throat. It turned out to be step.

Maybe I should just plan ahead and ask Santa to fill my stocking with antibiotics.

Oh, and apparently filling in for mom by cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry is taking its tole on Wes and the boys. Yesterday I found Brandon like this:

I guess next time I get sick, it's time to call in the Relief Society?

I guess I shoulda knocked on wood

Apparently I spoke a little too soon about the week of health we enjoyed. While working at the Book Fair last week, I picked up a head cold. It moved down to my chest, so it was just a bundle of fun. I am feeling much better this week, and I am staying AWAY from the elementary school. It is a germ smorgasbord! Justin had a Thanksgiving feast in his class today, and I was planning on going, but changed my mind. I'm not taking any more chances!!

Brandon has his first basketball game today and we don't even get to go. It is up in Orem at 3:30. Wes is holding basketball practice for Spencer's basketball team at 4, and Spencer and Tyler don't even get home till 3:45. We all have the sniffles though, so I guess it's all for the best. I sure do feel sad about missing it though. :(

I came down one morning and found Tyler reading to Justin.

Like most brothers, they do their fair share of arguing, wrestling, and bugging each other, so it is always great to see them getting along. When they are actually helping each other, it is even better!

Six straight days with no on sick. Woohoo!

I am crossing my fingers that we will all be healthy for awhile now. It was sure a nasty month and a half at our house.

The last week was super busy, as it always is when you miss two weeks of your life and have to make up for it.

Brandon made the Freshman basketball team on Tuesday. He is not one to show any emotion, so we're not sure how excited he is, but we are sure proud of him. Way to go Brandon!!!
Several of his friends made the team and they are really a great group of boys. It will be fun going to the games. Brandon's not sure how much playing time he will get because there are 13 on the team. He came home from one of the practices and told us he thinks he will be playing "Starting Left Bench". Cocky he is not. :)

I finally got to go to one of Spencer's accelerated basketball games. Unfortunately it was their worst one so far. They were missing several very key players because of the BYU Pow-Wow. It was ugly. They got one look at the other team and were totally intimidated, so mentally they had lost before they even started. The final score ended up to be 60-7. OUCH!! We really could have used the height and aggression of the missing players.

Tyler just got a new Wolf den leader. And yep, you guessed it, it is me. Since I already have two other callings, I am feeling a little overwhelmed, but we'll see how it goes. I'm not sure how thrilled he is that I am his leader, but I am excited to spend time with him.

Justin is thrilled that we finally have snow. Yesterday was sunny and he headed outside right after lunch. When we looked out, this is what he was doing:

Yep, mowing the grass. Don't you just love the look of snow boots and shorts?
I sure hope he still likes mowing the grass this much when he's 12. But I'm not counting on it.

Yes, we are still alive

Well, it has been a long couple of weeks, to say the least. October was a very sick month at our house. The kids all took turns being sick, one at a time of course, so it dragged out forever. I ended up getting swine flu. Yes, it is horrible.

After five days of misery, I was feeling better, so I helped with the boy's Halloween parties at school.

Justin's class did a Halloween program and it was so cute. They sang songs and everyone had a part to say. His was: "I" is for icing on cookies to share, "J" is for jack-o-lanterns smiling, BEWARE!"

The next day, I helped with Tyler's party. Tyler's favorite part of the party was painting the pumpkins.

Justin really wanted to paint one. I felt bad that I hadn't brought one for him, I thought he would be staying home with Wes. Lucky for me, one of the other moms had sent in a bunch of extras from their garden.

He was soooo excited.

Unfortunately, I overdid it and overwhelmed my immune system. Halloween day I started coming down with a sore throat. Sunday morning I woke up feeling horrible. Fever, chills, body aches. Kind of like swine flu, except for instead of a dry cough, my throat felt like I swallowed a bunch of nails. I could tell right away that I had strep. Plus major head congestion. Luckily I was able to call our doctor and he called in a prescription for me. I was so wiped out though, that it took a full two days before I even started to feel better. So, I was out for a week with swine flu, than another week with strep. Wes and the boys were real troopers and took great care of me.

It is so good to feel like a human again!!!

Oh, I didn't get very good pictures on Halloween because I felt so cruddy I went to bed early. But here are the boys in costume:

Justin was a lego:

Tyler was a mummy:

and Spencer was a Rubix cube:
Doesn't he look excited? What a turkey!
